Vertical Video Syndrome

Ever heard of VVS? It refers to ‘Vertical Video Syndrome’, possibly one of the serious ‘problems’ we encounter in contemporary memory practices.

Nowadays, a lot of home movies have been recorded by mobile (smart/i)phone devices which have a video function. The result is often a clip recorded in the ‘portrait’ or ‘vertical’ stand – as opposite to ‘landscape’ and ‘horizontal’:

 

 

 

 

 

According to Glove and Boots, a YouTube channel ‘that features two puppets by the name of Mario and Fafa commenting on certain aspects of popular culture’ (knowyourmeme.com), a lot of people nowadays suffer from this infamous ‘Vertical Video Syndrome’, as they call it. ‘Say no to vertical video!’ –
