Exhibition ‘Homeless movies’ (visual report)

Homeless Movies (visual report)

26 June-15 January, 2016
House of Alijn, Museum of Everyday Life, Ghent, Belgium

The museum exhibition Homeless Movies at the House of Alijn, Museum of Everyday Life in Ghent (Belgium) brings an ode to home movies, once recorded in a private family sphere meant to built a family memory. It presents the wonderful work of visual artist and home movies collector Jasper Rigole, who analyses, catalogues and digitizes home movies to built an ‘archive of someone else’s memories’.

The museum exhibition continues beyond the walls of the museum. Guest curator Edwin Carels invited six artists to immerse themselves in the collection of home movies  the museum has collected over the years and to make a new film from it. All participating artists are connected to the city of Ghent and include: Mekhitar Garabedian, Eva Giolo, Katrin Kamrau, Jasper Rigole, Meggy Rustamova, Lisa Spilliaert. See for a program book:
