This year, two museum exhibitions will be organized around the theme of ‘home movies’ in the Netherlands and Belgium. From May 27 till October 30, 2016 the Limburgs Museum, based in Venlo, organizes an exhibition on a century of ‘home cinema: from projector to smartphone’. The House of Alijn, the Flanders Museum of Everyday Life based in Ghent, Belgium, will organize another exhibition on home movies called ‘Homeless Movies’ from June 26, 2016 until January 15, 2017.
The two museum exhibitions are resulting from the home movies research project “Changing Platforms of Ritualized Memory Practices: The Cultural Dynamics of Home Movies” and have been organized in close collaboration with the project members.
